BALLPOINT PEN:
Back garment with a paper towel. Rub glycerin into stain; leave 15 minutes, then wash with a mild detergent.
BBQ SAUCE:
Scrape off any excess with a dull knife. Treat grease with a combination solvent. To remove traces of color, use an eyedropper and flush with mild bleach (such as white vinegar solution).
BLOOD:
Rinse stain in cold saltwater as soon as possible. If stains have dried, soak
for up to a half hour. Then soak in or blot on a mixture of digestant and cold saltwater.
GUM:
Rub with ice or place entire item in freezer. Scrape off excess. Blot with mineral spirits to remove residue. Launder in hottest water safe for fabric.
CHOCOLATE:
Treat grease with combination solvent, then soak in a digestant and cold water to remove traces.
COFFEE:
To rinse out color, apply a mild bleach with an eye dropper (recommended: white vinegar solution). For sugar, also rinse with cool water. For milk, also use a combination solvent.
FELT-TIP INK:
Rinse with denatured alcohol using an eyedropper then blot with a mild detergent.
GRASS:
Soak stained area in cold saltwater. Rub in a paste of digestant and water, rinse in cold water. If necessary to remove color, flush with a mild bleach, using an eye dropper.
GREASE:
Apply absorbent to soak up grease, let stand a few minutes, then scrape off. Treat with combination solvent. Soak in warm water. To remove traces of grease, dab with mineral spirits. Wash in hottest water safe for fabric.
KETCHUP:
Remove any excess with a dull knife. Treat grease with a combination solvent. To remove traces of color, use an eyedropper and flush with mild bleach (recommended: white vinegar solution).
LIPSTICK:
Treat grease with a combination solvent. To remove any color, use an eyedropper and flush with white vinegar solution or another mild bleach.
MUD:
Don't work on wet stain or it will spread. When it’s dry, shake off loose dirt. For large stains, soak in warm water and mild detergent. For smaller stains, apply a combination solvent, then blot with a mild bleach (white vinegar solution or hydrogen peroxide).
MUSTARD:
Remove any excess with a dull knife. Hold stain upside down under running cold water. Apply a mild detergent, let stand for a few minutes. Rinse in cold water. If necessary, apply a combination solvent.
NAIL POLISH:
Wear gloves. Place stain face down on paper towels. Blot with a mild bleach (recommended: white vinegar solution). If ineffective, sponge on acetone nail polish remover. Rinse, then dab on a combination solvent, let stand for several minutes. Launder in hottest water safe for fabric. Do not place in dryer until all traces of acetone and its fumes are gone.
PERSPERATION:
Blot stained area with a mild bleach (recommended: white vinegar solution). If heavily stained, rub in mild detergent and soak in warm water. Rinse.
If necessary, apply a combination solvent, then launder, using safest
possible bleach.
RED WINE:
If possible, treat immediately by rinsing area with club soda, cold water or even with wine. Sprinkle salt on stain, let stand for a minute. Rinse in cold water. If still necessary, dab area with denatured alcohol. To remove color, flush with a mild bleach (recommended: white vinegar solution).
SHOE POLISH:
Flush area with cold water. Rub with a mild detergent. Scrub with your thumbs. Rinse in cold water. Repeat process if any stain remains.
SOY SAUCE:
Soak in cold water and a mild detergent. To remove color, use eyedropper and flush with a mild bleach (recommended: hydrogen peroxide).
TOMATO SAUCE:
Remove excess with a dull knife. Treat grease with a combination solvent.
